Who are we?

Who are we?

Barberras Botanicals is a small family unit consisting of myself (the Director), my partner Ian and our dog Barbara. We reside in the picturesque village of Creetown, which is located in the lush Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland and are deeply connected to our natural surroundings. Our commitment to community is reflected in our professional lives, as both Ian and I work as personal assistants to vulnerable members of our local community.

Our passion for creativity manifests in various forms, including trying our hand at painting, ceramics, jewellery making, photography and knitting, etc. These artistic pursuits not only enrich our lives but also inspire our approach to business.

We are committed to fostering a sense of community and well-being through our products and our values.

Our Inspiration

We were inspired to launch Barberras Botanicals in 2024 because of Brian`s own battle with prostate cancer and mental health issues, and Barbara`s battle with anxiety.

Brian was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer in 2015, aged 40 and needed a prostatectomy to deal with the cancer. As a result of this life saving surgical procedure, Brian was left with an out of control condition called Dysuria and Nocturia, and he also was diagnosed with Bursitis of the hips. After trying prescribed medicines for 3 years post surgery and being given the bad news that his prostate cancer had recurred, he eventually discovered CBD oil. Within a month, the 7-9 times per night visits to the toilet began to reduce and within six months they were reduced to 2-3 times per night (increasing much needed sleep time) and urgent visits to the toilet during the day, were reduced to normal daytime visits that had no urgency.

Since beginning a daily use of CBD Brian`s recurred prostate cancer appears to have stalled in its development and this has helped him avoid damaging Radiotherapy, which would likely have led to further complications.

As a result of Brian becoming single in 2020, he desperately sort the company of a dog and started the lengthy, and laborious task of finding a rescue dog. That is how Barbara came into his life. Unfortunately, before being rescued, Barbara was not treated very well and came into his life with a serious case of anxiety and was very reactive to several factors; dogs, loud noises, etc. Barbara`s anxiety and reactivity is gradually being controlled through training. However, he is that stage where he needs help, which is not chemical of nature (Barbara did have at least a year of being prescribed Trazadone and this has caused some damage to his pancreas), so he will shortly be starting a course of Hemp Oil from Voyager.
